Carbine Chemicals was founded in 1984 by Raymond ‘Rocky’ Baker, whilst working for Bart Cummings and expecting his first-born son. Ray combined his love for horse racing and chemistry and started his own equine supplement company and Carbine Chemicals was born, in a back stall at the Melbourne showgrounds. With Ray’s hard work and determination, Carbine Chemicals outgrew that stall, and relocated in 1990, to its first factory in Keillor. In 2000 the company expanded again, moving into 4 factories in Altona North, where you will find us today. Sadly in 2014 Ray passed away suddenly and was laid to rest in Broken Hill NSW where he was born, leaving his beloved company to his children, with his son Jensen taking over and managing the business. Ray always had 2880 on his shirts, and when asked why, he would say with a smile ‘never forget where you came from.’ Although Ray has gone, we haven’t forgotten where our business came from, and Ray’s legacy continues with his company still owned and run by his family, with the same hard work and determination, that Ray started his business with. Finally, in 2023, we have our own website.
